Bait and Witch by Angela M. Sanders

Image
Welcome to the last post of the year. 2020 is finally over.  I'm cautiously optimistic for 2021 Bait and Witch by Angela M. Sanders My rating: 4 of 5 stars This was my first cozy mystery and I really enjoyed it. The paranormal aspect is what drew me in and I liked that our main character was a librarian. This is perfect if you're looking for something that's not too heavy. Josie Way, left her job at the Library of Congress to hide out in Wilfred, Oregon. She's the small town's new librarian, which is housed in a Victorian mansion. She's only just found out that the position is short-term. Shorter than she planned to stay because the library is on the verge of being torn down and than she finds a body out in the woods. Other odd things are happening as well. She and the library cat share the same star-shaped birthmark, When patrons ask for a book she recommends just what they need. The books seem to be whispering to her too. She wonders if it's all jus...

Her Wicked Marquess by Stacy Reid

Image
This is the second book in the Sinful Wallflowers series. Her Wicked Marquess by Stacy Reid My rating: 5 of 5 stars Loved, loved, loved, loved this so much. I went through every emotion reading this one. The beginning was fun/funny, pulling off a prank on the tons mean girl and our couples introduction to each other. Maryann and Nicholas have great banter. Miss Maryann Fitzwilliam is not the usual lady of the ton. She has an opinion and she's not afraid to give it. This has made finding a husband impossible. Her parents have arranged for her to marry a man almost as old as her father. So she decides to do something sinful to get out of the arrangement. The next morning when the scandal sheet reports seeing Nicolas Ives climbing out of the chamber windows of a house party, Maryann does something unimaginable. She claims that the bedchamber belonged to her, hoping it is enough to end the unwanted union her family has pushed her into. The Marquess of Rothbury has intentionally cr...

The Princess and the Rogue by Kate Bateman

Image
It's the last week of the year! I'm so glad 2020 is coming to an end. Cause this year was rough.  Reading became my greatest escape.  The Princess and the Rogue by Kate Bateman My rating: 5 of 5 stars I did not expect to love Seb as much as I did. What is it about a grumpy hero? And I loved Seb and Anya's chemistry. This was a fun wrap-up to this series. Princess Anastasia Denisova flees France after the death of her brother to escape a fellow countryman who won't take no for an answer. Once in London, she becomes Anna Brown, a ladies companion. She enjoys her job with the Dowager Duchess and helping the women of the brothel next door learn to read. Sebastian Wolf, the Earl of Mowbray, does not believe in love and that's thanks to his upbringing. He encounters Anya at Miss Hayes' brothel believing she is someone she is not. And when she hears his name she recognizes that he is her employers' nephew. When she learns the man who tried to force her into marr...

Home For THe Holidays by Sara Richardson

Home for the Holidays by Sara Richardson My rating: 5 of 5 stars This was a good family holiday read. All of the sisters are likable and I enjoyed each of their storylines. I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series. Three sisters come together to visit their aunt for one last Christmas at the Juniper Inn. They haven't seen their aunt in nearly fifteen years and nothing can keep them away. Each sister is dealing with something and the chance to spend time together with their Aunt Sassy sounds like the perfect way to escape their worries.   This one is part of the Capricorn Cove series. Collins and Nicholas have been married for almost ten years but living apart. Now Collins wants a baby, so she goes to Nicholas to ask for IVF or give her a divorce. Nicolas has another idea, her and him and a bed. And he has no plans to let her go again. If you want something a little naughty this one might be for you.  Two couples who are best friends and have been inseparable until Bonnie and Logan move away to New York.  Ava and Max are flying into Manhattan to spend Christmas with their friends.  They used to joke that they'd all end up in bed together and now the fantasy is set to become reality. Home for the Holidays by Lucy Darling My rating: 5 of 5 stars Fun quick read So good! It was hard to put down. Ugh... I loved Logan so much. One look at her and he's a goner. Angel is just sunshine sweet. The steamy scenes were pretty steamy. Definitely pick this up if you're looking for something quick and ...

Not the Duke's Darling by Elizabeth Hoyt

Image
This is the first book in the Greycourt Series. I was actually supposed to read this one first but I somehow got the books mixed up and my ARC review for When a Rogue Meets His Match was due and I didn't want to fall behind. šŸ˜© Here's my review: Not the Duke's Darling by Elizabeth Hoyt My rating: 4 of 5 stars I really liked Freya and Christopher. Despite the action that opens the book it took me a few chapters to finally find a good reading rhythm and really get into the story. Freya is posing as a chaperone using a fake name as part of her mission as a Wise Woman. When the Duke of Harlowe appears at the house party she is attending, she fears he will recognize her and give away her true identity. She can't hide her dislike of him which of course leaves Christopher wondering if he's met her before and what could he have possibly done to deserve her ire. Christopher is only attending this house party because his blackmailer has forced him to meet there. The b...

A Duchess A Day by Charis Michaels

Image
A Duchess a Day by Charis Michaels My rating: 4 of 5 stars Finally, I'm here to write my review. While I did enjoy this book, I did have a hard time getting through some of the middle last chapters. I put it aside a few times to review other books and I was feeling a little overwhelmed. Once out of my funk I was finally able to finish this forbidden romance. Lady Helena Lark has been trying for years to get out of her arranged marriage. She is finally packed off to London in order to keep an eye on her. But she has plans of her own, to find a more suitable replacement to become the duchess. Declan Shaw better known as "The Huntsman", is a mercenary. His last job landed him in jail under false accusations. This is the last job he wants but he is promised an end to his legal troubles if he gets the lady down the aisle. The last thing either was expecting was the attraction building between them. Thank you to the publisher for this ARC to review review to come later ...
