What she’s not quite prepared for is her brother’s attractive (and increasingly distracting) friend acting as her self-appointed bodyguard… When Lord Luke promised his best friend he’d keep an eye on Cassie, he meant it. But the brazen and entirely too alluring woman she’s become is a far cry from the mischievous, freckled girl she used to be. Review: The Virgin and The Rogue by Sophie Jordan

Image
The Virgin and the Rogue by Sophie Jordan My rating: 4 of 5 stars I really enjoyed this historical romance. Charlotte always makes the safe choice so when she becomes betrothed to her childhood sweetheart no is really surprised. Kingston is a rake. At least he had been and his stepbrother's country estate is the best place to hideout. On the night of his arrival, Charlotte takes a healing tonic that leaves her feeling aroused and taking her pleasure from someone other than her betrothed. Surprisingly this was my first Sophie Jordan book and it will definitely not be my last. I can't wait for Nora's book! The magic potion and the cover are what first drew me in. I really liked that her sister is a herbalist. Even though she dosed her sister with an aphrodisiac. I know some people had an issue with this. Thankfully she realizes that she can't marry William and after a disastrous dinner with her Kingston's father and Warrington's mother, she finally recognizes...

Review: The Highland Rogue by Amy Jarecki

Image
source The Highland Rogue by Amy Jarecki My rating: 5 of 5 stars After his ship is attacked, Sir Kennan Cameron washes onto the shores of a deserted island, delirious and nearly dead. When he comes to he finds that he is not alone, Divana Campbell has been on the island alone after she was abandoned by her family. She nurses him back to health and he makes a plan to get them off the island. Together they set off for his father's home. And it's just the beginning of all their adventures. This is the last book in the Lords of the Highlands series but it can be read as a stand-alone. This is an action-packed romance from beginning to end. I hated having to put it down. I loved that Divana was so strong and self-sufficient. She didn't need Kennan but she wanted him. Kennan is a classic Highlander who falls for the girl when he least expects it. Loved every second of it! ARC provided by Forever and NetGalley View all my reviews

My Nose stuck in a book

Image
Well, there was supposed to be an update here about the progress of my blanket or even the pictures from the last Blythe swap, but I've been unable to get my nose out of books lately. I haven't picked up my crochet even though my fingers itch for the feel of the yarn.  I planned posts but they sit in my blog planner. I can't remember the last time I read this much. I like it, I just don't like that everything else takes a backseat. There will be pictures from the Blythe swap, hopefully tomorrow. xo Alicia

What to Read?

Image
This set of books are on my Summer Reading List. The Sookie Stackhouse Novels. I just need to actually sit down and start reading them. I also just received the first book in the Hunger Games series, so now I'm torn. Which do I start reading first? xo Alicia

source I read this book while on my blogging break. I have to say that it was engrossing! I hated having to put it down so much that I'm re-reading it! Here's a review from Amazon: “The circus, the Great Depression, a complex elephant, equally complex love, the mists and twists of memory articulated in the utterly winning voice of a very old man who’s seen it all: these are the irresistible elements of Water for Elephants. Sara Gruen has written an utterly transporting novel richly full of the stuff of life.” ¬¬– Robert Olen Butler, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of A Good Scent from a Strange Mountain.
