Six teens murdered. A suspect behind bars. A desperate father. In a case this shadowy, the truth is easy to hide. Six teenagers dead. Finally, the killer behind bars. But are the games just beginning? Psychiatrist Dr. Gwen Moore is an expert on killers. She’s spent a decade treating California’s most depraved predators and unlocking their motives—predators much like the notorious Bloody Heart serial killer, whose latest teenage victim escaped and then identified local high school teacher Randall Thompson as his captor. The case against Thompson as the Bloody Heart Killer is damning—and closed, as far as Gwen and the media are concerned. If not for one new development… Defense attorney Robert Kavin is a still-traumatized father whose own son fell prey to the BH Killer. Convinced of Thompson’s innocence, he steps in to represent him. Now Robert wants Gwen to interview the accused, create a psych profile of the killer and his victims, and help clear his client’s name. As Gwen and Robert...

Bait and Witch by Angela M. Sanders

Welcome to the last post of the year. 2020 is finally over.  I'm cautiously optimistic for 2021 Bait and Witch by Angela M. Sanders My rating: 4 of 5 stars This was my first cozy mystery and I really enjoyed it. The paranormal aspect is what drew me in and I liked that our main character was a librarian. This is perfect if you're looking for something that's not too heavy. Josie Way, left her job at the Library of Congress to hide out in Wilfred, Oregon. She's the small town's new librarian, which is housed in a Victorian mansion. She's only just found out that the position is short-term. Shorter than she planned to stay because the library is on the verge of being torn down and than she finds a body out in the woods. Other odd things are happening as well. She and the library cat share the same star-shaped birthmark, When patrons ask for a book she recommends just what they need. The books seem to be whispering to her too. She wonders if it's all jus...

The Duplicate Bride by Ginny Baird

The Duplicate Bride by Ginny Baird My rating: 4 of 5 stars I enjoyed this one. I initially thought this was going to be a little more on the funny side but it was a little more emotional. These two characters are slowly falling in love but they also have this deception between them. And you wonder how these two can make it work. Hope Webb's twin sister Jackie, asks her to switch places for the pre-wedding festivities. Immediately she refuses. There's no way they can pull it off now as adults. The plan is she'll go ahead and make apologies for Jackie but when Brent's grandmother makes a comment that bugs her, and he can't tell she's not Jackie, she makes the decision to pose as Jackie. Besides, It's only for a day. Brent Albright notices the change in his fiancee but is enjoying this different side of her. After their initial doubts his family is finally starting to like her and so is he. So he starts to woo her for real this time., hoping for more tha...

Through a series of flashbacks, we learn of how Sister Evelyn become a nun, what lead her to open Mercy House and her secret efforts to help the women who land on her doorstep even if it is forbidden by the church. We also meet the current women residing in the home and the circumstances that lead them there. The villain is Bishop Hawk. He's there to investigate Mercy House and the nuns. He's looking for any reason to shut them down. The beginning of the book starts off with a new girl showing up in the middle of the night.
