Review: A Cowboy State of Mind by Jennie Marts

A Cowboy State of Mind by Jennie Marts My rating: 5 of 5 stars I love, love, loved this book, so much that I had a hard time putting it down. It helped that I had a soft spot for these two characters when I was introduced to them in Logan's book, Wish Upon a Cowboy. And maybe I love a grumpy cowboy too. This picks up months after that encounter.  Zane Taylor is a scarred loner with a gift for helping horses. He's heading into town when he spots Bryn Callahan's car on the side of the road and no Bryn insight. When he spots her up ahead, gives her a lift to the diner. They rescue a horse together and before she knows it Bryn is setting up an animal rescue on her farm, with a little help from Zane. As they spend more time together, Zane' s insecurities start to creep in. She deserves a good man. And he's sure it not him. There are moments that are sad and heartbreaking. Like learning about Zane's childhood and the guilt he carries over a girlfriend's deat...

Small Town, Big Secrets by Elsie Davis My rating: 4 of 5 stars This book was short and sweet.. Single mother Becky has to raise money to pay for her son's surgery. She's willing to do anything to help her son but accept help from the brother of the man who broke her heart? Steve Parker wants to win his local DA election, One way to do that would be to get married. And he has his eye on Becky McAllister. I really enjoyed reading this book, it was well written and liked all the characters. But I had a hard time connecting with these two. Review: Always a Bridesmaid by Cindi Madsen

Image
Always a Bridesmaid by Cindi Madsen My rating: 5 of 5 stars Violet has been a bridesmaid seven times. She was sure her wedding day was near until she found her fiance with another woman in his arms. She heads to Uncertainty to help her sister redesign her bakery, spend time with her niece and to try to find her muse again. Upon arriving she almost starts a fire. Ford Macguire does search and rescue, trains puppies and fights fires, so he doesn't have time for distractions. But she's a really cute distraction. And he gets her to help him with the puppy training and his "man of honor" duties just to spend more time with her. As they begin to fall in love he lets his insecurities push her away. Loved their banter and how he just accepted who she was, unlike her ex. The scenes with the puppies are of course adorable. Especially Trouble. This is the second book in the Getting Hitched in Dixie series and can be read as a standalone. I'm looking forward to the nex...
