Review: Asking for Trouble by Amy Andrews

Image
Asking for Trouble by Amy Andrews My rating: 5 of 5 stars I love this series so much! Tucker and Della were so good together. Their romance is sweet and steamy. If you read the book before this one you could see that they were into each other! After three years of putting herself back together and being over-protected by her brother and the town, Della is ready to start taking charge of her life. Starting with dating. She downloads TInder and after her first disastrous attempt, she asks Tucker to be her wingman. Tucker does not want to see her dating questionable guys, so he agrees in order to help her weed out the bad ones. Pretty soon he's helping her in ways he definitely shouldn't. Their scenes were so steamy! There were a few that left me misty-eyed. And there were plenty of funny moments too! At the beginning when Della made a joke about her Holy H****. I snorted. Drew while encouraging Tucker to talk to Arlo. Can I move to this town? ARC provided by Entangled Publi...

Review: The Virgin and The Rogue by Sophie Jordan

Image
The Virgin and the Rogue by Sophie Jordan My rating: 4 of 5 stars I really enjoyed this historical romance. Charlotte always makes the safe choice so when she becomes betrothed to her childhood sweetheart no is really surprised. Kingston is a rake. At least he had been and his stepbrother's country estate is the best place to hideout. On the night of his arrival, Charlotte takes a healing tonic that leaves her feeling aroused and taking her pleasure from someone other than her betrothed. Surprisingly this was my first Sophie Jordan book and it will definitely not be my last. I can't wait for Nora's book! The magic potion and the cover are what first drew me in. I really liked that her sister is a herbalist. Even though she dosed her sister with an aphrodisiac. I know some people had an issue with this. Thankfully she realizes that she can't marry William and after a disastrous dinner with her Kingston's father and Warrington's mother, she finally recognizes...

Review: Gone With the Rogue by Amelia Grey

Image
source Gone With the Rogue by Amelia Grey My rating: 4 of 5 stars Lady Kitson finds herself up a tree clutching the onto its limbs waiting for her son's governess to return and her down. Garrett Stockton is taking a ride through the park altering his usual routine after being at sea. They have an almost immediate attraction but Julia has to deal with, the Duke, her father-in-law's ideas of staying/being a proper widow otherwise he'll take her son away. Julia is looking for evidence that the Duke isn't as pious as he appears to be. Garrett wants to gain her trust and to help her get out from under the Duke's thumb. Julia and Garrett are likeable and I was rooting for them from the start. The Duke turns out to be quite a despicable character. You'll see why towards the end. Review: An Unsuitable Lady For A Lord by Cathleen Ross

Review: A Whole Lotta Trouble by Lea Hart

Image
A Whole Lotta Trouble by Lea Hart My rating: 5 of 5 stars Rick Blakely had been away for ten years in the Navy SEALs. He spent another year working through the trauma he faced. Now he's enjoying being back on the family ranch. Emily Conner has been called out the Blakely Ranch. She's hoping that she won't run into him. Both characters are strong-willed. Em is no push-over and doesn't easily give in when Rick pushes. Rick wants her to understand that he's willing to wait for her to realize that they are meant to be together. I was not expecting the actions towards the end of the book but it was pretty good. I don't want to give anything away. But you should definitely go and pick this book up if you like military heroes, cowboys and southern charm. This ARC provided by Entangled Publishing via NetGalley View all my reviews

Review: Forbidden Realm by Diana Cosby

Image
Forbidden Realm by Diana Cosby My rating: 4 of 5 stars This book is the fifth book in the Forbidden Series but can be read as a stand-alone. I found the first chapter was a little long but I know it's because it's laying some of the groundwork about our characters. After that, this book moves at a quicker pace. Ronan is a Knight Templar. He's had a rough upbringing that led him to the brotherhood and swearing to never return to Ireland. Now he is being sent by his King to escort a nobleman and his daughter, Lady Lathir, back to his homeland. Lathir has no plans to marry after the death of her betrothed. Attacked at sea, Ronan and Lathir are forced to rely on each other for survival and find themselves forming a tender bond. This is pretty much a clean romance. Our Lady and Knight don't kiss till somewhere after 50%. There were some emotional moments there at the end. Especially when it seems like they wouldn't end up together. Now to go read some more from this...

Review: In Her Shadow by Kristin Miller

Image
In Her Shadow by Kristin Miller My rating: 5 of 5 stars This book sucked me right in! And I found myself reaching for a notebook to keep some notes while I read. Michael is moving his pregnant girlfriend Colleen into the house he once shared with his wife Joanna, who walked out on him. The grand house is cold and the staff hostile. As Colleen tries to settle in she feels like Joanna's presence looms over her. Then bones are discovered in the grove across the street. Michael falls under the suspicion of the detectives handling the case and Colleen will do anything to help protect her new life. How could she move into the house he once shared with his wife? Why is everyone acting weird? Dean, the chef does nothing to hide his dislike of Colleen. Only cooking meals Joanna liked. The housekeeper Samara, giving her Joanna's bathroom robe to wear. Rachel, the next-door neighbor who takes little jabs at her. Even Michael acts a little weird. I want Colleen to get the heck outta ...

What I Read March 2020

Image
I did not read as many books as I usually do. I was sure that with the self-quarantine order keeping us inside, I would read more but that didn't happen. I had a hard time concentrating. And since I quit smoking a few years ago, I now find myself dealing with anxiety. But I'm managing it with breathing exercises, yoga and meditation. I only read a total of 16 books 6 ARCs 3 Kindle Unlimited 3 novellas from the Read Me Romance podcast 4 Audible Escape For some reason, one of the books I read did not appear in the widget and another appears twice. xo Alicia
