New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones brings a fresh, modern take to the thriller genre that will keep you guessing until the very end.
The Poet by Lisa Renee Jones
“The poet is a liar who always speaks the truth.” -Jean Cocteau

Some call him friend or boss.

Some call him husband or dad.

Some call him son, even a favorite son.

But the only title that matters to him is the one the media has given him: The Poet.

A name he earned from the written words he leaves behind after he kills that are as dark and mysterious as the reason he chooses his victims.

One word, two, three, a story in a poem, a secret that only Detective Samantha Jazz can solve. Because he’s writing this story for her.

She just doesn’t know it yet.

My Review

The Poet
by Lisa Renee Jones
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There is a serial killer on the loose who is leaving poems with each of his victims. Detective Samantha Jazz takes over the case when the lead detective suddenly resigns in the middle of the investigation. So, it doesn't hurt that she knows a thing or two about poetry,

"The Poet" as she dubs him, begins a cat and mouse game meant to leave her unbalanced and not sure who to trust outside of her tight inner circle. These lessons are to help her see what she's meant to be.

Pretty intense. There were quite a few scenes that had me holding my breath. If you love procedural crime, you should pick this one up. Looking forward to seeing what else comes from this series.
