Review: To Catch An Earl by Kate Bateman

Image
To Catch an Earl by Kate Bateman My rating: 4 of 5 stars Emmy Danvers wasn't supposed to touch anything unless she was going to steal it. But she broke that rule when she touched Alex Harland. She was happy to watch him from afar and daydream. But she had to take a chance before he left. Now four years later he's an agent working with Bow Street trying to solve the one case that's haunted him. Who was the mysterious woman who stole a kiss from him before he left for war? When the infamous Nightjar resurfaces, Alex finds himself constantly running into the tempting Miss Danvers. Do you love grumpy hero's? Cause Alex Harland is it. The more he falls for Emmy the grumpier he gets. And even as they grow closer, having to lean on one another, Alex has a hard time trusting Emmy. Even knowing that we would get HEA and that they had great chemistry, I worried these two wouldn't make it. ARC was provided by St. Martin's Paperbacks via NetGalley View all my review...

Review: The Devil's Own by Liana LeFey

Image
The Devil's Own by Liana LeFey My rating: 4 of 5 stars If you're looking for a slow burn, this is the book for you! It drove me crazy and I enjoyed every second of it. Miss Mary Tomblin has her sights set on the vicar. Besides his vocation, his position offers her a chance to put roots down. She knows she'd make an excellent wife and seizes the chance to help him with his pastoral duties while his leg heals. Lord Devlin Wayward is visiting his family for the first time in quite some time. He lands himself and his twin into some trouble when he breaks his leg while pretending to be his brother. They decide to swap places. I did go in thinking this book would be lighter than it actually was but it did not take away from the story. I appreciated the growth both of our main characters experienced. Looking forward to Daniel's book. ARC provided by Entangled Publishing via NetGalley View all my reviews Pick up a copy today! Review: Pirate's Persuasion by Lisa Kessler

Image
Pirate's Persuasion by Lisa Kessler My rating: 5 of 5 stars I can't remember the last time I read a pirate romance. This one did not disappoint. I'm giving it 4.5 stars. Drake Cole is an immortal pirate. Two hundred years ago he and the rest of the Sea Dog crew sank with their ship. A young stowaway died that night. And he's contacted local medium Heather Storrey with a message for Drake and asks her to protect Drake from the woman controlling his spirit. When Heather delivers the spirit's message, he is attacked, hearing the scream of a banshee. A dark coven is in possession of the figurehead from the Flying Dutch. Heather and the crew from the Sea Dog must find the relic soon, as the attacks grow stronger and anyone else gets hurt. This is the fourth book in the Sentinels of Savannah series. And can be read as a standalone. This was also my first book from this author and I really enjoyed it. Heather has always felt different and at times bullied but the se...

Review: Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge by Debbie Mason

Image
Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge by Debbie Mason My rating: 4 of 5 stars Abby Everhart was living out of her car before discovering that her Great Aunt has left her Honeysuckle Farm in Highland Falls, North Carolina. She plans on putting it on the market to help her get back on her feet. But what she finds is a serious fixer-upper and a man living on the property, who claims her left the property to him. Hunter MacKenzie is an ex-Delta Force soldier hiding away on the place that feels like home since his return from the war. He doesn't want to spend any time with this woman who annoys him. But the more time they spend together makes it harder to deny the spark he feels for her. This was my first Debbie Mason book, and I enjoyed this sweet romance. With the charm of a small Scottish town, who celebrate Highland Games. FYI this has nothing much beyond kissing. And I'm looking forward to Mallory and Gabriel's book. Review: Royal Bastard by Avery Flynn

Image
Royal Bastard by Avery Flynn My rating: 5 of 5 stars Nooooo! I don't want it to be over! And to think I almost didn't request this! Royalty tropes are not my usual reads. But reading the synopsis changed my mind. Our hero is Nick Vane, an American, who was allowed to keep the family name as ling as his father returned to England to fulfil his duties. Now his grandfather the Earl of Englefield is looking to make Nick his heir. Brooke is the Earl's personal secretary tasked with getting Nick to the estate. Her persistence wears him down. And he finds himself flying to England. Loved their chemistry. View all my reviews Pick up a copy for yourself! Amazon Barnes & Noble Google Play xo Alicia

Excerpt: A Scot to Wed by Callie Hutton

Image
A SCOT TO WED A Scottish Hearts Novel © 2020 Callie Hutton “Stop grinning like a loon, brother. The lass is still a stranger to us, and we need to watch ourselves around her.” “What?” Alasdair had the nerve to laugh. “If ever there was an uncomplicated lass, it’s that one.” He motioned with his thumb toward the ceiling. “And what do ye ken of complicated lasses? Most of yer bed partners have no more brains than that goat.” He waved his cup in the direction of the animal standing in the library doorway. He dropped his coffee cup and jumped up “What the hell is that?” Alasdair turned in his chair. “I think ye already said it. Appears to be a goat.” The animal stared at him, then ambled into the room. “What the blasted hell is a goat doing in the house?” “Oh, so sorry, my laird.” Meggie rushed in after the animal. “I’ll take him outside.” “Is he one of the tenant’s goats?” Evan asked as the animal walked farther into the room, looking around like he owned the place....

Review: First Kiss with a Cowboy by Sara Richardson

Image
First Kiss with a Cowboy by Sara  Richardson My rating: 4 of 5 stars Jane Harding is heading home for her best friends wedding. She was not expecting Toby Garrett to be there. The first boy she kissed, the inspiration for the hero in the romance novel she wrote. He annoys her and now they have to spend time together as they help their best friends prepare for their wedding. They both have suffered loss and it's kept jane from really living. The loss of her father keeps her from seeking out adventure and that Toby has a rodeo career keeps her from wanting to give her heart to the man who has been her crush since high school. I love cowboy romances! I like small-town romances as well and the fact that they have to work together means Jane gets to see that Toby is not what she assumed he was. Review: A Scot to Wed by Callie Hutton

Image
A Scot to Wed by Callie Hutton My rating: 4 of 5 stars Even though this novel was a little on the short side for me. It packs quite a punch. Mistress Katie Sterling arrives at MacDuff Castle claiming the land that Laird Evan MacNeil was legally inherited. With no plans to stay at the estate Evan agrees to let Katie manage the estate in his absence. Especially since some of her clansmen are set to arrive Now he's visiting with his tenants before he leaves, with Katie along also. And of course the more time they spend together, only fuels their growing attraction. ARC provided by Entangled Publishing via NetGalley View all my reviews Preorder a copy today!
