The Highland Outlaw

Image
The Highland Outlaw by Heather McCollum My rating: 4 of 5 stars Shaw Sinclair has been tasked with a mission. He has to deliver a baby to the coast to send it off to safety. While travelling through a festival he spots Alana Campbell. He coerces her into joining him on the trip to the coast of Scotland with his agreement to help her rescue her mother after. They must pose as husband and wife to accomplish their mission, only fueling their attraction more. Such a fast-paced story! I was entertained from beginning to end. Once I got comfortable with the pacing, it was hard to put down. All the action was interesting and at times leaves you holding you breathe. I did not want this story to end. This was my first time reading something from Heather McCollum and I'm looking forward to picking up her other Highlander books in this series. I was provided with this ARC from Entangled Publishers and NetGalley. #TheHighlandOutlaw #NetGalley View all my reviews

How to Capture a Duke

Image
How to Capture a Duke by Tina Gabrielle My rating: 4 of 5 stars Lady Olivia is dragged to a country house party at the residence of the Duke of Keswick by her Mother in hopes of finding her a husband. She escapes to the stables and while admiring the horses is sent back to the house by the head groomsmen. The next morning she heads out to the stables determined to ride and she heads out with the groomsman unchaperoned. Upon her returned she's summoned by the dowager duchess and accused of stealing another Lady's family heirloom. When she mentions her unchaperoned ride as proof of her innocence, she learns the groom is Tristan, the Duke of Keswick. To avoid scandal it's decided that they must marry immediately. Tristan believes she manipulated this whole scheme, no matter what she says. This was such a slow burn. He fights his attraction to her. And when she mentions producing an heir, he shuts it down. He's afraid a child would have his stutter and wants to avoi...

A Family By Christmas by Viv Royce

Image
A Family by Christmas by Viv Royce My rating: 4 of 5 stars This is a sweet Christmas story. It's like a Hallmark movie in book form. Sweet little girl Casey walks into Emma's shop with a request. She needs chocolates to help her Dad fall in love again because she wants him to be happy. When Grant is moved by the gift from his daughter and has to find out here the world-class chocolate came from. He finds himself drawn to Emma. Both are hesitant to risk their hearts. This was just a sweet sweet story. It is a little angsty, as they fight their developing feelings. But it was not annoying. View all my reviews

The Shape of Night by Tess Gerritsen

Image
The Shape of Night by Tess Gerritsen My rating: 4 of 5 stars The last couple of chapters made this book impossible to put down! I needed a whiskey after finishing this one. Ava travels to a small coastal town in Maine to get away from her life in Boston and most importantly a tragic secret. The minute she walks into Brodie's Watch, the old home she is renting, she feels at peace in the home-until she starts to hear strange noises. Right away this book drew me in and kept my attention from beginning to end. #TheShapeOfNight #NetGalley View all my reviews
